About Us

This dedicated group of volunteers is a non-profit organization committed to addressing a critical need at Monticello High School: the shortage of library books available to students. Currently, the school’s library holds just 2.9 per student, far below the American Library Association's recommendation of 15 books per pupil. These figures exclude required textbooks, underscoring the urgency of the cause.
Rally to Read: Monticello High School Library Fundraiser is raising funds to expand the library’s collection and ensure students have access to the resources they need to succeed academically and foster a lifelong love of reading.

A well-sourced high school library is critical not only for students but for the community as a whole. As children develop, reading expands their understanding of the world. It provides knowledge which will now and in the future foster their productivity in the workplace as employees, managers, and as business owners themselves. This helps to drive innovation and economic growth. It may also inspire them to become active participants in their community, its government, and civic organizations. All of this expands the economic prosperity and well-being of all citizens of Monticello and surrounding communities.
